Hello!

My name is José Marques I and started to learn to just 3 months ago.

All my life I worked with wood but never making musical instruments and so now I have tried and I believe that it works good... I´m learning with a great luthier here in Portugal and he is teaching me everithing he knows.

Soon my first classical guitar is finished, and I´m working to in a Portugese (to play fado) guitar to ;)

Jose, welcome to forum. It looks like your guitar is coming along great, what's it based on?

Thank´s a lot for the kind words [:Y:]

I believe that MR Jim are asking about the Portuguese guitar, no?

That is a guitar to play Fado, we have 3 kind of Portuguese guitars (Porto, Lisboa, Coimbra) but the Porto style is not mush used now.

That in mi fotos are Coimbra stile ;)

You can listening the sound if you wish to see this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOytxlE6 ... re=related

If you talk about the classical guitar , that is is the usual measures, that is influenced in the spanish guitars.

The woods are

German spuce top
Indian Rosewood back and sides
Wood bindings with side purflings
Ebony fingerboard
Carbon fiber reinforced Tola neck ( I do not know the english translation sorry)
gotoh tuning machines (not yet in the guitar)

Once again a big thank you for the comments

best wishes

Hi Jose,
I'm really intersted in this build, please take more photographes of every stage. I really like your method of building. That router you use for the linings, did you make the hand held attachment yourself? Can i see a photo of it?
Niece work!

Hello Joe Sallis

If I understand, cause my English is very bad :( you ask me about the bindings of the Portuguese guitar no?

I can´t put fotografies or every stage cause I dont have it, but in the next guitar I will do taht ;)

The Poruguese guitar is very difucult doing the bindings , if you see the fotos there hare several angles and is very dificult to fold the wood, is more dificult in the bindings then is the sides :S

Please fell free to comment, critic, and show your opinion and ideias, I really wish to recieve critics [:Y:] even if is to say bad things [xx(]

Olá, talvez melhor aqui escrever em inglês? :)

Yes, i´m an amateur and slow starter builder. I´m on my 2nd, both of them classicals, my "teacher" is Orlando Trindade. Good luck with your future builds!

(Sim, sou um amador e aprendo devagar - estou a construir a 2a guitarra, as duas clássicas, o meu "professor" é o Orlando Trindade, das Caldas da Rainha. Boa sorte para o teu trabalho!)

Abraço,
Miguel.
